Runes of the North
I just finished Sigurd Olson’s book, Runes of the North.
Runes of the North is a wonderful collection of stories mixed with philosophy about a consummate naturalist and adventurer. Olson spends a lot of time in the far north, north of Hudson Bay, and in far north Alaska. I wished on more than one occasion that I was reading with a map at my side. I was also impressed with his canoeing prowess, his comfort meeting fellow travelers, and his keen sense of satisfaction at the end of a long day.
This was a book that got me excited to head outside and find my own adventures, however humble in comparison.
Highly recommended. My copy comes from Northern Lights Books.
